The Sons of Liberty Gun Works MK1 represents our passion project to make the ultimate fighting. Starting with a billet upper/lower/rail receiver set, these rifles feature a MK1 specific rail system that has a host of features, including a continuous M1913 Picatinny rail on top, minimal rail deflection, integrated cable routing, laser texturing and 7-sided MLOK slots. The extended barrel nut is constructed of titanium and coated with a space-age coating to assist with heat management. All new Medium Contour profile barrel with 3 Groove Polygonal rifling, conservative port sizing, 5/8×24 muzzle threads, .750″ gas journal.

The enhanced A5 Length Buffer System provides superior recoil management, while also including premium components such as renowned our Bolt Carrier Group coated in NP3, Liberty Charging Handle with small handles, Liberty 2-stage Trigger, and an ambidextrous Badger selector. Comes standard with B5 grip and SBA5 brace (pistol) or Magpul MOE-TR stock (SBR).

Intermediate Buffer System

All MK1s feature an intermediate buffer system. In exchange for a slightly longer buffer tube, the rifle operates with a rifle spring and extended buffer, which lengthens the recoil cycle. This reduces bolt speed, smooths the recoil impulse, and improves reliability across a wider range of ammunition, conditions and when using a suppressor.

Enhanced Controls & Ergonomics

Every control on the MK1 is designed to improve efficiency and handling. From the ambidextrous safety and Liberty charging handle to the integrated QD endplate and flared magwell, the platform is designed for intuitive operation in demanding environments.

Liberty 2-Stage Trigger

With a 2.5lb 1st-stage and 2lb 2nd-stage, the L2S trigger has a clean and precise break, along with a crisp reset. The trigger bow is a hybrid straight center section with curved upper/lower sections. The L2S helps deliver fast and accurate shots on target.

Premium Barrels

Our barrels have been proven to be some of the most precise on the market. With P3 – polygonal 3-groove technology, the MK1 is regularly capable of 1 MOA or less with match ammunition, and shows excellent performance with bonded, solid copper, and frangible ammunition as well. The P3 rifling also provides for a longer service life and is easier to clean. Available in 11.5”, 14.5”, and 16” lengths.

Rigid Upper & Rail System

The MK1 features an enhanced upper receiver with a lowered forward extension and enlarged maritime bolt catch. An uninterrupted top rail allows maximum mounting flexibility for optics, lights, lasers, and other accessories, while the rail incorporates the Drive-Lock system, a dovetailed upper receiver, and two additional stainless-steel pins holding everything in place.

Laser Engraved, Textured M-LOK Handguard

Perhaps the most identifiable feature of the MK1 is the laser engraved texture on the handguard. Designed to provide a gripping texture without abrading equipment, a positive and sure grip is possible in any weather condition. By also having texture built-in, rail covers are not needed to also allow maximum airflow for better heat dissipation.

MK1 Cable Management Rail

With a built-in deep cable management channel, profiled rail slots, and laser etched, hexagonal texturing, the MK1 Rail is a signature feature to the MK1 rifle. Cables may be routed through the channel to prevent snagging and excessive use of zip-ties. All of the rail slots have been chamfered and relief cut to minimize damage to cables. The cable management channel runs from the front of the handguard to the rear of the upper receiver, maximizing flexibility.

2025 U.S. SOCOM Contract Awarded

Sons of Liberty Gun Works (SOLGW) is proud to announce it has been awarded a contract by U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for the Combat Assault Rifle (CAR) program. Following a rigorous competitive evaluation, a select-fire variant of the SOLGW MK1 rifle with an 11.5-inch barrel was chosen to equip America’s most elite warfighters.

SOCOM’s evaluation demanded the highest standards of small arms performance, including extensive trials for durability, precision, reliability, and environmental resilience. The SOLGW rifle endured extreme conditions—heat, cold, dust, mud, and salt exposure—while maintaining consistent function and accuracy.

In November 2025, a select-fire MK1 variant with an 11.5″ barrel was selected for U.S. SOCOM’s Combat Assault Rifle contract, chosen after trials designed to break rifles: heat, cold, dust, mud, salt, and everything in between.
